Chrome for iOS is Google's mobile browser designed for Apple devices, first released in 2012. While it offers many of the same features as its Android and desktop counterparts—such as tab syncing, Google account integration, and incognito mode—it is fundamentally different under the hood. Due to Apple's App Store policies, Chrome for iOS is required to use WebKit, the same rendering engine that powers Safari, rather than Google’s own Blink engine used in other versions of Chrome.
Despite this limitation, Google has developed Chrome for iOS to closely resemble its Chromium-based versions, adding features like a custom user interface, Google Safe Browsing protection, and deep integration with Google services. While it does not provide the same performance or web technology advantages as Chrome on other platforms, it remains a popular choice for users who prefer Google’s ecosystem and cross-device syncing.
