Firefox (iOS)

Firefox for iOS is Mozilla's mobile browser designed for iPhones and iPads, first released in 2015. Unlike its Android and desktop counterparts, Firefox for iOS uses WebKit as its rendering engine, in compliance with Apple’s App Store policies, which require all browsers on iOS to use WebKit rather than their own engines. As a result, Firefox for iOS has the same underlying engine as Safari, but it offers a distinct user interface and features like enhanced tracking protection, private browsing, and syncing with Firefox on other devices.

Despite the use of WebKit, Firefox for iOS maintains many of the privacy-focused features and open-source principles that are central to the desktop version. Mozilla continues to update Firefox for iOS, adding features such as a streamlined UI, custom search options, and improvements to its password manager, while maintaining a strong emphasis on user privacy and security.
